Mkamboi Mwakale is a weathered storyteller with a passion for creative writing, who has published her first fiction work ‘Journey of a dreamer ' and working on a forthcoming novel dubbed ‘lost and found’. A BSc. graduate, Mkamboi confesses her love for writing did override her college studies and she has not practiced it much as a career other than the fact that we are interacting daily with technology. She is currently a Director at Sheerah Agencies.
Her passion for creative writing led her to the tough world of entrepreneurship as the publisher of ‘Varsity Phunk’ a bimonthly lifestyle magazine for University students in the period of 2010- 2011. The magazine venture closed shop leaving her with accrued debts and a great learning experience. Though she took long to let go of the business, inevitably she found the strength to move on after being born a new as a mother in February,2012. “When I held baby Shani in my arms for the very first time, I knew somehow I had to make it, for me and my baby at the very least.” She says. Becoming a mother was not the only new beginning in store for her life in 2012, as she also found her love Jesus and gave her life to Christ on 9th Sept, through an altar call at Purpose Centre Church. This was a defining moment in her life something she alludes to her new found confidence, “I am confident of who I am today because I know who I am,a child of a King the most High God. I am a Conqueror, a Victor and a winner”
Her writing journey began in school through practice essays. She immediately fell in love with the art of storytelling and owes a lot of credit to her primary school English teachers who mentored her after noticing her oblivion interest to learn, one of them being her very own mum. At high school she took an active role in the journalism club which was in line with her passion and interests. Some of her published articles can be found in Fountain News a monthly print.
Mkamboi has developed interest in young women empowerment and finds time to be a change agent via initiatives such as CMCF-Women to adolescent girls especially those coming from underprivileged communities. She does this by sharing her own life journey and encouraging them to reach their full potential.A believer for purpose driven life, she encourages the girls to seek God's will for their life with the mantra ;"no one can accomplish what you were created for".
Despite the fact that being a mother is a full time job, Mkamboi finds her alone moment and uses this free time to read and write poetry and prose which she shares on her blog, along with her musings on a wide spectrum of topics. A self confessed doting mum,she finds her true reflection through her daughter Shani who has a sweet nature d soul and has empowered her to be the best she can be.She regards her parents as her greatest supporters.
